On Wed Aug 10, DC workers started to resurface Rhode Island Avenue NW in front of our building. They came VERY close to that Mercedes who ignored the temporary No Parking signs.
They did just one pass milling up the old asphalt on Wednesday. The cars were gone by the next day.
Thursday, the trucks could really strip the road.
The white truck grinds up the asphalt layer and spits it out into the red truck.

On Friday, a layer of oil was sprayed to prepare the underlying concrete for the new surface.
The silver truck is spraying the oil. The red trucks are full of new asphalt and staged for the next step.
The asphalt is dumped into the hopper of the Caterpillar machine that then lays a nice smooth surface on the road.
One truckload of asphalt is enough for about 100 feet of a single pass of the Caterpillar.

Compacting the last pass. That steamroller had a vibrator that shook the building.
